Uninstalling Programs in Windows 7

Be very careful when uninstalling programs that you only remove programs that you yourself have installed.  Be very careful not to remove system programs that are for required for the running of your computer.  As a general rule of thumb, never remove a program if you do not know what it is, or if it is a Windows or Operating System type of program.

Removing programs can be achieved in a few simple steps.  Often your computer may require a reboot after the completion of the unsinstall process, if this is the case you will be prompted to do this.  In this example we have chosen Microsoft Office to uninstall.

1. The first step in uninstalling a program in Windows 7 is opening the Control Panel, do so by clicking on the Start button and proceeding to click Control Panel.

Once ‘Uninstall a program' has been clicked, it will bring up a list of all the installed programs on your computer,  it may take a little while to list all your programs, so you will need to wait until this window has stopped loading before continuing (this can take a couple of minutes).  Click on the program you are needing to remove, and you will note once you have clicked on it, some choices will appear in the upper part of the window and the choices will depend on which program you choose to uninstall.  Click on Uninstall  or Uninstall/Change.
